The Annual ROSE Awards, hosted by Visit Indy, celebrates non-managerial hospitality employees or volunteers who provide excellent customer service. ROSE stands for Recognition of Service Excellence.

This year, Heart of the House Market Manager, Jonathan Perez, and Tim Ribich, General Manager for the Fairfield Inn & Suites Indianapolis Downtown, knew exactly who they wanted to nominate.

In June of 2021, Heart of the House Associate, Antonella Gonzales, started her journey at the Fairfield as a brand-new housekeeping room attendant. Learning the ins and out of housekeeping can take months, if not years. But Antonella proved early on that she was on the fast track.

“She quickly learned our cleaning process, completed training, and began to excel. Antonella worked very hard – picking up extra rooms, extra shifts, and helping other housekeepers when they were behind. This is just the type of person and associate she is,” said General Manager, Tim Ribich.

As the slow season approached, Antonella decided to further prove her versatility and dedication. Always looking for ways to learn and do more, she asked Tim if she could cross train on the front desk.

“Knowing how well she did in housekeeping and wanting to keep our staff working through the slow period, I agreed to her cross training. I truly believe this was one of the best decisions I have made since becoming the GM at the Fairfield. Antonella took this opportunity and ran with it! It was no surprise she started to get guest comments, and TripAdvisor and Google mentions on how great she is—how she is always smiling and going above and beyond,” said Tim, proudly.

Today, Antonella handles the front desk with skill and grace and is a role model for service excellence.

“She has become our go to person to put on the front desk on busy days; we know she will provide great customer service and take care of our guests.”
