A 260-room hotel had trouble filling its housekeeping team through other hospitality staffing agencies. The employees assigned to the hotel simply were not the quality of staff the property needed to meet expectations. The hotel general manager called Heart of the House to fill six positions – about half the property’s housekeeping staff.
Our local housekeeping staffing services team immediately began recruiting and assessing candidates. Supplying housekeepers for multiple properties in the area meant that Heart of the House had a talent pool from which to draw. The hotel said it needed the team to start in two weeks. Heart of the House was ready five days before the deadline with the new team of qualified housekeepers. One team member is a senior-level housekeeper able to train other team members and take on the role of room inspector as needed. As usual, the team was supported by a local housekeeping staffing manager who visited the property multiple times a week and maintained close contact with the general manager.
The general manager has been extremely pleased with the quality of the team—so much so that the lead housekeeper was promoted to Housekeeping Supervisor. Heart of the House not only solved a client’s problem, but we also created a new career opportunity for an associate.
